finally a breakthough when i clamped the bending iron horizontally instead of vertically. this, and some heavy gloves allowed more local pressure on the iron. there's a lot of technique to get fair and accurate curves. some minor small fractures and still a bit of twist to pull out, but i think this may be close to usable. bending the cutaway looms.
